Apelo is a Paris-based production company developing feature films, short films, documentaries and cultural projects, working alongside filmmakers and artists with a distinctive creative vision.We support filmmakers whose work offers a personal perspective on the world and explores the complexity of human experience. Each project begins with an encounter, grows through trust, and finds its own path through dialogue and collaboration.Beyond production, Apelo aims to create spaces for encounters and exchange between filmmakers, artists and cultural professionals.
OUR STORY
Apelo grew out of a shared journey that began in the early 2000s. In Greece, director and producer Ari Bafalouka founded Artwave Productions, while Elisabeth Tsouctidi developed her career in film production and cultural projects.Their first collaboration resulted in Apnea, Ari Bafalouka’s first fiction feature, marking the beginning of a shared journey spanning cinema, documentary, visual arts and cultural projects.In 2023, this shared experience led to the creation of Apelo, a Paris-based production company focused on European and international collaborations, with particularly strong ties between France, Greece and the Mediterranean.

ARI BAFALOUKA
Director & Producer
Ari Bafalouka is a director, producer and visual artist. His work spans fiction, documentary, theatre and photography, exploring memory, imagination and human experience. Founder of Artwave Productions in Greece, he now continues his work at Apelo, where directing, production and visual arts intersect in support of a free and distinctive cinema.
ELISABETH TSOUCTIDI
Producer
Based in Paris, Elisabeth Tsouctidi is a producer developing projects at the intersection of cinema, documentary and the visual arts. Trained in documentary and ethnographic filmmaking, she supports authors and projects at Apelo from development through production and international distribution. Her experience in production and cultural projects informs an approach rooted in dialogue between filmmakers, artists and European and international partners.
